Just a reminder to the community as a whole: This forum is a place for calm, intellectual, and friendly discussion. While everyone is welcome to their opinions and debate is welcome and encouraged, we must remember that we all part of the same community. Anger will help no one and talking through issues calmly is usually enough to safely resolve a disagreement. If you feel strongly that you must express yourself in anger, please do so in a more appropriate sphere, such as private message or in person. I remind the community that this forum is public and EVERYTHING you say will be viewed by the club as a whole. Think before you write.
Furthermore, careful reading of all posts before responding in encouraged, as it will help to avoid misunderstanding.
This has been a message from the Anime Club Executive Board
Have a good night.

Right. I think everyone has a right to express themselves when something upsets them. When it happens to me, I find it best to reread the post just to make sure I got it right, and if I did, to leave it for a while so I can gather my thoughts. Then, I can express myself more calmly and clearly, trying to prove my point objectively. It's just something I've learned with experience on forums.

Can we all just get back to talking about cannon relationships vs. non canon and not whether certain groups are represented accurately in anime?
Let's disscuss pros and cons of some cannon vs. non cannon pairings we personally like.
Example: I like (cannon pairing) but I also like (non-cannon pairing).
Pros of cannon pairing (aside from just "being cannon"):
Cons of cannon pairing:
Pros of non-cannon pairing and/or why it might be better than cannon pairing:
Cons of non-cannon pairing and/or why it might not be as good as cannon pairing:
I'll think up two of my own later. I'm just going to leave this outline here for everyone else.

*Canon. ^-^
Okay! I like Isaac x Miria from "Baccano!" but I also like Ennis x Miria.
Pros of Isaac x Miria: I really doubt they could live without being together. I just can't see how they would manage to function as a single individual. And they're adorable together, really funny together, and are just absolutely wonderful together.
Cons of Isaac x Miria: I can't think of any.
Pros of Ennis x Miria: They're good friends and, interestingly enough, are opposites. Ennis is very stoic, especially compared to Miria and Isaac. Miria could show Ennis a world full of fun and excitement that Ennis has never known before, including affection. Poor Ennis never had any friends before she met Isaac and Miria, and the two women seem to be closer than Ennis and Isaac are.
Cons to Ennis x Miria: It could mean no Isaac x Miria, which is a very sad concept. Unless, of course, they became a threesome. Which would be three times as adorable as Isaac x Miria and Ennis x Miria. Though I personally can't see Isaac and Ennis being anything more than friends, so it would kind of be like the situation in "December Bride." (Erin and Meghan Spencer know what I'm referencing. ^-^)
I honestly can't decide which one I like the idea of more, though. Ennis x Miria makes me feel a bit better about shipping Maiza x Firo, though - that way Ennis can still be with someone (or two people, depending on how you look at it) and Firo and Maiza can be what you KNOW certain scenes are hinting at. (Maiza is practically taking Firo out on a date when they go to get Firo a fedora.)

My ships are sometimes canon and sometimes not canon and tend to follow where I think the story SHOULD have ended up, if it didn't already have a happy ending.
Like, I'm all for Tohru/Kyo in Fruits Basket, Sakura/Syaoran in Tsubasa and Cardcaptors, Yuri/Kail in Red River and SO many other main character shippings because I love me a happy ending to the story.
But then, for instance, I ship Katara/Zuko because (Aang is way too young to fall in love with her!) they'd be an awesome couple and it totally makes great political sense!
